TechStyle On The Streets: The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure

28th Sep 2017 / By Guest Contributor

On Sunday, September 24, a group of TechStyle employees took to the streets! Well, it was actually the “neighborhood” of the Fashion Island shopping center in Newport Beach, California. Why, you may ask? We were walking for a cause! We joined the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure and did a 5K in support of breast cancer awareness.

The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure reserves 75 percent of the net proceeds raised for the following:

  • Screening, diagnosis and treatment services
  • Safe and accurate breast cancer information
  • Patient navigation programs

The remaining 25 percent of proceeds goes toward Susan G. Komen’s national priorities:

  • New early detection technologies
  • Understanding of metastasis, and how to treat and prevent recurrence
  • More effective treatments

We were all so happy to be part of this cause. Our small but mighty team of TechStyle employees gathered EARLY (the walk started at 7:15am) for a little pre-walk pep-up and picture taking! We wore signature JustFab shirts and Fabletics leggings, and then we teamed up to walk the 3.1 miles (our Handbag Buyer, Annie, ran it!).

We were represented by people across the TechStyle family, from marketing to design. Our Senior Manager of Social Media, Maggie, even brought her adorable new baby boy along for the ride!

The motto of the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure is:

Be Bold. Be Fearless. Be More. Race For The Cure.

This definitely resonates with us and we’re so glad we were able to be part of this special day.
