Everyone knows that watermelon is the best fruit in the summer game. If you’re anything like us, you’re slicing some up and serving it on anything and everything as the weather gets warmer. Plus, guess what? August 3rd is National Watermelon Day!
The margarita below is the perfect mix of sweet and salty. Infused with fresh watermelon and fiery jalapenos, it also boasts tequila, refreshing lime and delicious orange liqueur. And the best part about it? No seeds!
Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita
What you’ll need:
3 cups pureed watermelon
¾ cup tequila
½ cup lime juice
¼ cup orange liqueur
2 tsp. sugar
1½ jalapenos, seeded and sliced
2 limes, sliced thin
Sea salt to rim the glasses
What you’ll do:
Combine all of the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir. Smash some of the jalapenos against the side of the pitcher to get some of the spiciness out before you drop them in. Put the pitcher in the fridge to let the margarita chill for a bit. Stir before serving and pour over ice. We love rimming the glasses with sea salt for an extra zesty finish.
Try this cocktail once and we guarantee you’ll be dreaming about it all summer long. Let us know how much you loved it in the comment section below … and happy watermelon day!
