It’s National Floral Arrangement Day! Celebrate with a Fun DIY!

24th Feb 2017 / By Guest Contributor

National Wedding Month is in full swing … and today just happens to be National Floral Arrangement Day, too! And if you love flowers as much as we do (seriously, what girl doesn’t?!), then you’ll be extra excited about this super-fun floral DIY.

We worked with Jenny from Magical Blooms to create an easy and affordable floral bouquet for weddings, parties or even just a beautiful home centerpiece.

Enjoy!

What you’ll need:

FLOWERS
Café Au Lait garden roses
Dahlias
White Anemones
Pink Ranunculus
Pink Scabiosa
Raspberries
White Astrantia
Your choice of greenery
Sweet Peas
Succulents
Pieris Japonica Buds

TOOLS
Green Floral Wire
Pliers
Wooden Box
Floral Stick Wire

What You’ll Do:

Step 1
Grab your first bunch of roses, dahlias, and Pieris japonica buds. Keep it to 10 stems maximum, and hold it in your hand and wire it together. Add a few stems of greenery. Keep the largest flowers in place first for balance, and use that dominant flower throughout. Add the greenery to keep things casual and romantic, and when you do your first wiring, keep it at 10 stems max. Different dimensions are key in this arrangement, so keep some flowers tall and some shorter and more tucked in.

Step 2
Add pink ranunculus, scabiosa, and raspberries to the second bunch. Every time you add flowers to the bunch, keep it to 3-4 flower types max.

Step 3
Add the white anemone, sweet peas, and white astrantia to the bunch. When adding the sweet peas, keep them in clusters to create a bigger impact.

Pro tip: Wiring your arrangement together allows for extra flexibility when creating your arrangement.

Step 4
Remove the dirt and roots from your succulents and wrap the stick with wire at the base. Place them into the gaps to create a whimsical balance.

Pro tip: Want to keep your flowers extra fresh for up to 10 days? Add one tablet of aspirin to the vase!
