The Mane Event: An Easy, Effortless Holiday Up-do

Step 1: Start on the left side of the head and take a small section of hair and secure it with an elastic. Be sure that it’s not too tight.

Step 2: Secure another small section next to the first one and tie it with a clear elastic band.

Step 3: Split the tail of the first section of your hair in half.

Step 4: Place the tail of section two through the middle and secure the tail with a clip.

Step 5: Make a third section (exactly the same as the first two!) but this time, add the tails from the first section to it. Secure it with a clear elastic band.

Step 6: Continue doing so until you reach the other side of your head.

Step 7: When you reach the end of your head, braid the rest of the remaining strands. Add an elastic to the end of your braid and pull the bottom section up and through it.

Step 8: Pull on the sections of hair to add volume to the “braid”.

Step 9: Continue to tug and pull all the way up and down.

Step 10: Pull through the braid down the tails of the hair. Wrap the tail underneath the horizontal braid and secure it with a large bobby pins.

Step 11: Pull on the sections of hair until it’s as big as you’d like. Use hairspray and secure with bobby pins.
