Layer Like a Stylist

13th Aug 2016 / By Guest Contributor

Hey ladies! I’m Tamika – Senior Stylist at JustFab. I started my styling career over 8 years ago, and since then, I’ve styled editorial shoots, commercials, runway shows, and more. I would describe my personal style as eclectic – some days, I’ll go boho, some days, I’ll opt for a little edge, and sometimes, I’ll rock the athleisure trend with a glam twist. When it comes to getting dressed, I tend to switch things up depending on my mood.

For our latest lookbook, I really leaned towards layered looks to show how easy it really is to mix fall staples with warmer-weather favorites. Read on for some of my go-to layering tricks

Tip 1: (image above) I’m  a big fab of utility jackets because they’re so versatile. They’re easy to pair with a fun flirty dress for a little edge. The neutral hue of this version works with just about every color. I’m obsessed.

Featured Styles: Cold Shoulder Midi, Dexter bag, Plaid Shirt

Tip 2: A plaid shirt is an all-season essential. It can be styled in so many ways, but right now, I’m loving it tied around the waist with a dress. Other ways I love it: with denim and booties and over a t-shirt. Be sure to roll up the sleeves for an effortless finish.

Featured Styles: Nylon Bomber Jacket, Harold Bag, Maggy Pumps, Rib Knit Midi Skirt

Tip 3: A bomber jacket brings on the cool factor. Whenever I slip one on, I feel like a street style star. And this one? It’s pure perfection.

Tip 4: The trench coat will never go out of style. It’s perfect for work, the weekend, and formal events. I love it with dresses and boots and skinnies and heels. If you don’t have one already, I recommend picking one up this fall.

Tip 5: When it comes to necklaces, I’m all about that layered look. It’s an easy way to set your look apart from the rest and accent your unique signature style. I like to think of necklaces as the finishing touch on any simple look.
