Ah, Independence Day. It’s the one day a year to watch fireworks, chow down on tasty BBQ, chill with friends and family, and sip on festive, fun cocktails. And while there are plenty of ways to booze it up on this patriotic day, we’re big believers that it’s even more fun to take things up a notch. The patriotic party drink below not only tastes amazing, but it also looks pretty nice in photos, too!
Firecracker Cocktail
Ingredients
1.5 oz of your go-to Vodka
1.5 oz fresh lemon juice
1.5 oz blue curacao
1 oz. grenadine
splash of simple syrup (DIY recipe below!)
Instructions
First, make the simple syrup. Put ¼ cup of water and ¼ cup of sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat and stir until all of the sugar is dissolved. Take the sauce pan off the heat and allow the syrup to cool down.
To make the drink, fill a tall glass with ice and slowly add the grenadine. Then, slowly add the blue curacao. The weight of the curacao is different than the weight of the grenadine, so it will float on top. If this doesn’t happen, you may have done something wrong. Once finished, place fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and vodka in a shaker, cover, and shake it up! Slowly add the mixture to your glass and top it off with an optional cherry!
