These 3 Cocktails Will Have You Planning Your Next Getaway

The sun is out and we’re ready to play! With travel on our minds,  we’re thinking about the next chillaxin’ vacay that’s full of sunshine, sunbathing and sweet cocktails! To get you in the spirit of planning your next trip, we’ve rounded up three NOLA inspired cocktails that will have you drinking from the AM to PM just like the natives! After all, who doesn’t love a little extended Sunday Funday?

First, something refreshing with breakfast/brunch. Whether you’re in the south or not, this cocktail is PERFECT for hot summer days. You can have it in a cold mug which will keep it nice and cold or a regular glass. Sit back and enjoy!

MINT JULEP
-4 cups of bourbon
-2 bunches of fresh spearmint
-1 cup of distilled water
-1 cup of granulated sugar
-powdered sugar

Muddle the mint leaves and sugar with 1 teaspoon of water until the sugar is dissolved. Pack the glass with crushed ice and top with the bourbon. Serve garnished with mint sprigs.

What’s better than a fruity cocktail for lunch with a fun and festive umbrella? A strawberry daiquiri of course. Slushy drinks are pretty much everyone’s jam during the summer cause hellooooo…it’s super hot and you gotta stay cool. So grab your blenders and get ready to make the perfect mix!

STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

-6 cups ice
-1/2 cup white sugar
-4 ounces frozen strawberries
-1/8 cup lime juice
-1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup rum
1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Combine ice, sugar and strawberries in blender. Pour lime, lemon juice, rum and lemon-lime soda into the blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into glass and serve.

A local drink that natives love to sip on is the Sazerac. A variation of a cognac or whiskey, this drink was named for the Sazerac de Forge et Fils brand of Cognac brandy that serves as its original main ingredient. Your perfect night drank it can be served in either of the glasses featured in the image above. Of course, this always goes best with a great companion and good conversation.

SAZERAC

-1 sugar cube
-water
-1 1/2 ounces rye whiskey
-2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
-1 dash angostura bitters
-ice
-1 barspoon absinthe (or Pernod)
-lemon peel
