February is here and you know what that means. Galentine’s Day is almost near! No, that wasn’t a typo – Galentine’s Day is actually real (at least that’s what we’re telling ourselves, anyway).
Galentine’s Day was a made up holiday created by the comedy television series Parks and Recreation, in which Amy Poehler’s character throws a party for her girl friends the day before Valentine’s Day. Check out our favorite ways to celebrate this extra special holiday and make sure to enter our Galentine’s Day Instagram sweepstakes for a chance to win a $700+ party kit!
One winner will be chosen at random to receive a Galentine’s Day party pack to help her throw the best Galentine’s Day party ever! The prize will include:
Throw a Party: When in doubt, throw a party! Invite your closest girlfriends to your humble abode for a day full of eating, games and drinking (duh!). Send out online invitations a few weeks in advance and start preparing fun activities like making these easy glimmering DIY candles.
Movie Marathon: If you’re dealing with a more laid-back group of gals, a movie marathon event might be the perfect way to celebrate Galentine’s Day! Take a poll among your friends to create a list of movies you’d like to watch. Some of our favorite movies that ooze “girl power!” are Spice World, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Now and Then, Erin Brockovich, The Hunger Games, Sex and the City, Charlie’s Angels…and the list goes on and on!
Night On The Town: Grab the girls and rock out after-dark! Grab a late dinner at that swanky new restaurant in town and head out for drinks at a bar or club. Add a bit of fun and excitement by playing games like Bar Crawl Bingo. Have fun, but remember to be safe and responsible!
Set Up A Volunteer Day: If you and your girl friends have been talking about volunteering together, take advantage of this holiday to do just that! Look up local charity or volunteer events in your city and sign your group up to help the community. Volunteering together will not only help you feel like you’ve spent the day doing something that matters, but will also strengthen the bond between you and your close friends.
Wine Tasting: Another great way to celebrate Galentine’s Day is by organizing a wine tasting trip with your gal pals. Book your transportation and accommodations if you’re planning on making it an overnight trip. Next, make a list of a few wineries you’d like to visit and contact them to schedule an appointment.
