New Year Recipe: Lemon Ginger Detox Drink

Happy New Year lovely fashionistas! It’s a New Year and you know what that means? It’s the perfect time to do a quick little detox to start the year off right. While I’ve never been a huge fan of doing detoxes (because let’s be honest the true way to losing weight long-term is by eating healthy and exercising), I was lucky enough to be able to find one that was the perfect way to start my morning.

I tried this out over the weekend so I wouldn’t be pressed for time and I have to tell you I’m so glad I did it! I had been feeling a little bloated and this specific recipe is perfect for reducing bloating and feeling light.  It has two main ingredients which makes it easier to whip up in the morning and they’re both really great for speeding up your metabolism and burning that fat throughout the day. Double whammy! The ginger is perfect for kick starting your metabolism and if you drink this all day you’ll definitely feel the effects of it while doing your workout.  The lemon is a natural detoxifier that aids you in shedding unwanted toxins.

3-day Lemon Ginger Detox Ingredients:

  • 1 12-ounce glass water, at room temperature
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 inch knob of ginger root

Add the lemon juice to glass of water. Finely grate the ginger with a zester then add to glass of water.

After day three, I have to say I’m feeling a lot lighter and actually plan on continuing drinking this detoxing drink every morning for the rest of the week!  Also, here’s a little secret: you can make this a tea and boil water and add honey for the same effect.  I would also recommend eating healthy while on this detox as it’ll make you feel exponentially better.
