Grandparent’s Day: Grandma’s Recipes

In celebration of Grandparent’s Day we want to focus on our amazing grandmothers. A Grandmother’s love is incomparable to any other kind of love. They spoil us with gifts and love. The one thing that always remains true is how much we all love our Grandma’s cooking! Whether it be a main dish, snack, or dessert every dish is made with love. Check out some of our teams favorite recipes from their grandma’s kitchen!

Grandma Polar’s Pecan Pie
Ingredients:
1 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of melted butter
½ cup of light kayos syrup
3 tsp of salt
3 eggs
2 cups of pecan halves
1 frozen deep dish pie crust

Mix all ingredients together with a mixer excluding the pecan halves. Pour well mixed ingredients into the frozen deep dish pie crust. Place pecans individually on top of the mix. Bake pie on cookie sheet in pre-heated oven of 375 degrees for 45 mins. Once done let pie cool before serving!

Grandma Raham’s Lemon Bars
Ingredients:
13″ x 9″ pan/dish
2 cups of flour
1 cup butter or margarine
½ cup powdered sugar

Combine the top three ingredients for the crust. Press into a buttered 13″ x 9″ pan molding slightly up the sides of the pan/dish. Bake crust at 350 degrees for 17 minutes (add 1-3 min if necessary).

Additional pie ingredients:
4 eggs
dash of salt
2 cups of sugar
6 tbsp. lemon juice
½-3/4 tsp grated lemon rind
4 tbsp flour
1 tsp baking powder

Mix above ingredients and pour into baked crust and bake for 25 mins on 350 degrees in prepped dish.

Frosting ingredients:
4 cups powdered sugar
4 tbsp butter or margarine
4 tbsp Milk
2 tsp vanilla

Mix well and spread over lemon bars once they have cooled.

Grandma Barfield’s Chicken Salad
Ingredients:
6 boneless chicken breast
celery stalk
relish
salt
pepper
sugar
mayo
mustard
1/2 carton eggs

Broil chicken breast on medium in a large pot for an hour or until tender. Allow to cool and then mince using a knife and a fork. Place minced chicken in a bowl. Boil 6 eggs until hard boiled. Once done add eggs to ice water to cool down. Once chilled remove egg shell and then chop up the eggs.

Add the following ingredients to the bowl:
6 chopped eggs
5 large tbsp of mayo
1 large tablespoon of mustard
1 cup of relish
1 teaspoon of sugar

Mix all ingredients well. Salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate until chilled.
