25th Jun 2015 / By Guest Contributor

Missed Coachella another year in a row? No worries, there’s plenty of chances to catch your favorite artists this summer at one of these upcoming music festivals, so grab your shades (don’t forget lots of sunscreen) and let’s go!

Essence Music Festival: New Orleans, Louisiana; July 2-July 5, 2015
This 3-day summer favorite is one of the largest celebrations of music and African American culture in the US with over 400,000 supporters coming out each year. Pioneers of R&B and hip-hop join together with the hottest artists in their respective genres for an overall powerful experience of art, music, and culture.

Summerfest: Milwaukee, Wisconsin; June 24-July 5, 2015
With over 1000 performances over 11 days, Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival. There is certainly something for everybody here; covering everything from pop, indie, jazz, rock, and everything in between. Along with the plethora of sounds, Summerfest offers self-proclaimed foodies a chance to get a taste of what Milwaukee has to offer with special festival concoctions.

Lollapalooza: Chicago, Illinois; July 31-August 2, 2015
Often called the “Woodstock for the lost generation” this 3-day fest hails diversity by bringing together multiple genres together on one stage; most notably electronic, alternative rock, hip-hop, and punk rock featuring a blend of established and upcoming independent artists. This event is definitely one you want to add to your bucket list.

Northern Lights: Humboldt, California; July 17-July 19, 2015
Northern Lights is one of the newest festivals around, but it is much more than that. With a heavy emphasis placed on sustainability, the festival is located in the midst of Humboldt, CA surrounded by redwood trees and a vast camping area with open space for yoga, dancing, deep water swimming, just to name a few activities, this is an all around experience like no other.

Country Jam USA: Eau Claire, Wisconsin; July 23- 25, 2015
This one’s title is a bit self-explanatory; Country Jam is the year’s can’t-miss country music event packed with a weekend full of superstar performances. Country Jam promises a fun, positive time so take a moment to enjoy the music in one of their ever popular pop-up pools (try to say that 5 times fast) and make a whole lot of great memories with the girls.

Osheaga: Montreal, Canada; July 31- August 2, 2015
This year marks the 10th annual Osheaga festival and in those 10 years Osheaga has established itself as one of the most important music festivals. Held in Montreal, Canada the fest caters to the indie music scene along with the visual arts. Osheaga is held in high regards for discovering fresh talent every year, who knows, you might spot the next biggest music act this year!

Regardless of which festival best suits you, we encourage you to get out, let loose and have the time of your life. Festivals are really a one-of-a-kind experience. Rock out to this playlist to get you pumped for your next event!
