Boo-tiful DIY Halloween Mani!

26th Oct 2014 / By Guest Contributor

I love the holidays because they give you an extra excuse to experiment with makeup, accessories and, of course, manicures! And now, with Halloween only a few days away, you can really up the ante on your nail game! I love fun manis and, after doing a little research, have found that the possibilities are endless when it comes to creating the look you want – especially now that I’ve discovered nail stencils! Yup, exactly as they sound, they’re specially designed mini-stencils that fit the size of your nail so you can master the perfect decal with hardly any effort! So now, in honor of Old Hallow’s Eve, here’s a simple step-by-step tutorial for creating a chicly boo–tiful DIY Halloween Mani that’s sure to turn heads!

1.  Start with a base coat to prime and prep your nails. Apply one coat and let it dry!

2. If you want to stick to the Halloween theme, but don’t want to go overly orange, choose a coral colored polish, like PaintFab Hard Coral. This will give you the same festive fall look without being too gaudy! Apply two coats and let your nails dry completely before moving on to step 3.

3. This is the fun part – choose your stencils! You can usually find them in your local beauty supply store, but there’s also a wide range of choices online from which you can choose! Place the appropriate stencil on your dried nail, making sure it’s pressed down firmly to avoid any air pockets. Then using a dark polish – black is best for Halloween! – gently sweep the color over the stencil, letting it dry slightly before peeling the stencil away! Fill in any spooky details, like eyes, with white polish. You can use multiple stencils on the same nail like you see here, just make sure each has dried before moving on the next!

4. Finish by sealing the look with a top coat and let your nails dry completely!
