3 Independent Mexican Celebrities

Mexican Independence Day is celebrated September 16th.  A major party takes place on this day in Mexico City every year. TV stations broadcast the huge extravaganza. People gather to shout “Viva la Independencia,” remembering the events that took place in 1810, when Mexico declared their independence from Spain.

We’d like to take a moment to celebrate 3 fabulous independent Mexican celebs who have shaped not only Hispanic American culture, but American culture as well.

Considered the most famous soap opera actress in Mexico,Thalia is now worldwide famous. This diva started her career in Mexico City also as a member of the pop group Timbiriche. Thalia later debuted as an actress, gaining recognition with Marimar and Maria la del Barrio (some of her most famous soap operas).  She also released very successful solo albums like; Thalia and Amor a la Mexicana. This talented woman married Toni Motola, one of the most prominent producers. She gained success in the American market with her album Thalia, featuring rapper Fat Joe in “I Want You”. Thalia was also featured in People’s Magazine most beautiful people.

The girl that never takes a no for an answer Salma Hayek. This independent woman started her acting career in Mexico. She became famous with Teresa, a Mexican soap opera that captivated the heart of Latin people. After hitting huge success in Mexico, she moved to the US to start her career in Hollywood. It was not easy for her, but she fought until she filmed Desperado with Antonio Banderas. Another success was the Frida film which was nominated for 6 Academy Awards. In addition, this powerful woman was the executive producer of Ugly Betty, a famous comedy.

La chica dorada Paulina Rubio (the golden girl) is one of our all time faves! This Mexican super star is one of the most idolized Mexican celebrities. She debuted in Mexico as part of a pop group named Timbiriche. She later debuted as a solo artist and reached success with the Ananda and Pau-Latina albums. Those records launched Paulina as an international diva. Pau also reached the tile of fashionista, as she imposed trends in the Latino and European market. Not content with that, she made her way to Hollywood where she was able to participate in the X Factor reality show as one of the judges. This gorgeous fashionista also decided to launch her Paulina Collection with Justfab. Pau Pau is full of surprises!

These girls bring glamour & a proud feeling of independence to all women. Let’s celebrate Mexican Independence Day with them!
