Tips & Tricks for Dressing Boho

14th Jun 2014 / By Guest Contributor

Spring and summer are my favorite times of the year. The sunshine just makes everything sparkle and glisten, especially when you have a healthy glowing tan. I balance my time between the New York City and the Hampton’s in Long Island. I try to be outside and in nature as much as possible. In the city, I go on long walks up and down the New York City Parkway along the Hudson River and spend time having picnics in central park.

While in the Hampton’s, I like to be as active as possible and go on bike rides, swimming at the beach and play in the sand and just relax to the sound of the sea. The summer and music go hand and hand. There are so many great outdoor concerts, festivals and live shows to attend. Festivals are perfect place to show off your boho style!

Yoko Ono and John Lennon were the perfect boho couple and their personal style was so inspiring. They were a creative force and their social consciousness’s impacted the world in a profound way. A vintage floral print dress, like the Kelly Fit and Flare, worn underneath a lace crocheted kimono is a go to look once paired with a pair of gladiator sandals like the Solara is a comfortable and a stylish.

Janis Joplin considered herself to be the “first hippie pin up girl.”  You can channel her style with the Aleecia heel, denim bell-bottoms and a tie die silk blouse and suede vest.

Mixing prints is always fun in the summer, a floral long flowy dress worn with a Aztec print pouch bag mixed with bright pop colored lipstick and nail polish is a great summer look.

I love a good headband or head wrap. I love to take an old necklace and convert it to a headband or colorful or printed scarf.

You can finish off any bohemian look with a bucket bag like the Beloved. After a day outdoors, accessories are a perfect way to transform your beach attire to evening ready. Scarf, shoes, belts, jewelry are must haves and stables in my wardrobe- and make you look effortlessly chic especially with sun kissed cheeks.
