Chic Rhymes To Pass The Time On Limerick Day!

12th May 2014 / By Guest Contributor

Ladies, today is no ordinary day! In fact, it is on this day, May 12th, that we celebrate National Limerick Day! If you’re not familiar, Limerick Day is celebrated every year as a nod to the poet Edward Lear who was known for his silly somewhat nonsensical poetry. Of course, this also means we celebrate the birth of the limerick as it was born from his 1864 work, the “Book of Nonsense.” To refresh your memory, a limerick is a brief, quick-witted, five line poem following a specific rhyme scheme: The first two lines rhyme with each other, as well as the fifth line, while the third and fourth lines rhyme together. Sure, you could compose a limerick about anything (and believe me, I’ve tried!) but, given that we all have a passion for fashion, I used that theme as my guide and gave this funny little poem a try. Enjoy these and feel free to pass on!
