Flor de Maria Rivera, founder of flordemariafashion.com, is a fashion expert with her own with weekly TV segments on Telemundo and multiple TV networks. For those of you who are a shoes & bags kind-of-girl, you will fall in love with Flor’s blog (her first time trying on heels was at age 3!). We had the wonderful opportunity to ask her a few questions on her style, which you can find below along with fabulous outfit photos!
What inspired you to start a blog and what do you love about blogging?
I have always loved fashion. I remember when I was a little girl I would love to play dress up with my mom’s clothes and shoes. Then as I got older I would design my own clothes and then take it to the seamstress so she could make it for me. I would talk to her about the material, the color and the fit that I wanted, hahaha, I’m not kidding – I was about 7 or so. Fashion was my first love and it still is. I think that my life is a catwalk. So, after a few people suggested I do something in the “fashion world,” www.flordemariafashion.com was born. It has been the best decision I ever made.
Who or what is your biggest style inspiration?
I find inspiration everywhere…magazines, movies, television shows, murals, art, fashion bloggers and people in the streets. I’m so blessed to live in New York where everybody has such a unique style; it has helped me look at fashion in a different light.
Your style is so fun & edgy. When did you take your biggest fashion risk, and what did you wear?
Thank you!!! I don’t think I take a lot of fashion risks because I know my body very well and I know what works and doesn’t work. But I remember a few months ago wearing Jordans, I thought that would never happened, since I wake up in heels, hahaha.
Could you please list 5 fall wardrobe essentials for every woman?
What 3 items could you never part with?
If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It would have to be my Current Elliott jeans paired with a blazer and a tee. Of course my favorite pair of heels! You can never go wrong with a blazer and jeans!
Whose closet would you love to raid?
Miroslava Duma and Olivia Palermo. I’m obsessed with their style.
We saw that you were at New York Fashion Week! Which trends did you spot & love for Spring 2014?
Yes, I had a blast. I’m so blessed to be able to attend some of my favorite shows and see the trends before a lot of people. I still love crop tops, so I’m excited that I saw them everywhere. Bomber jackets will be big too and I’m crazy about white!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Shoe shopping! I’m addicted to heels and I can’t get enough of them. My mom says I was three when I started walking around the house in her heels, One day I hope to have my own shoe line or collaborate with a shoe company, maybe with JustFab!!!
