Summer of Bollywood Weddings, and What I Wore

13th Sep 2013 / By Guest Contributor

There is nothing more fabulous than wedding traditions of the Indian Subcontinent. Like a scene out of a Bollywood movie, Indian weddings blend golden hues, precious stones, color, and design to truly transport you to the exotic East. My summer 2013 was a whirlwind of Bollywood weddings, and my trusty +1 was a golden JustFab pump, such as Finley. See how I incorporated these gilded shoes into all my looks this summer.

Red is the New Black

My golden JustFab slippers joined me for a red and gold themed wedding in Malibu, Ca. This pump with a platform, gives the perfect height to show off the Pakistani style ankle length salwar, with brocade details. The traditional wedding color of Indian weddings is red. My look of red and gold paired well with Confection Perfection. The antique gold design, with layers of sparkle, captured the old world elegance of Indian jewelry.

Color, Color, and More Color

When my travels took me to Washington, DC. I decided to bring some color to the marble city. Pink and purple are two of my favorite colors to pair with gold. Pink pops against tan skin, and really get everyone into a festive mood. An essential piece in every Bollywood look is a wrist full of bangles. Pair our Zig Zag bracelets with your next pink/purple/gold themed look to really make the colors stand out.

Golden Florals

Last destination, Austin, Texas. The beauty of saris lies in their fabric. Women select saris based on design and fabrication. This purple raw silk sari is decorated in gold thread modern floral print. To offset the bold gold needlework, I would pair this sari with simple yet bold earrings, such as Fine Champagne.
