Wedges

Wedges are a huge trend for summer and one of the most all around versatile shoe styles. They go with just about everything except for a pencil skirt and are especially stylish with the ever present boho chic look which never seems to go away. A tan leather wedge like  Cambria, which is a strappy open-toe wedge with raffia detail, will go a long way and look great with just about everything for the summer.

Lace Up Sandals

Lace up sandals are probably the trendiest shoe style going right now. Appropriate for day or night, they look cute with shorts and skirts, but you’ve got to be careful not to be too sexy.  One of my styling rules is that when you’re showing any major body part, only show two.  So if you are showing off your legs and wearing a sleeveless top, you should keep your chest covered, etc.  Remain classy, not tacky!  If you want to try this trend without going full board, we have Thebes, which is a lace up demi-wedge. Unlike other styles that lace way up the leg, Thebes laces up from the toe to the ankle.

Ankle Straps

Ankle straps are having a moment right now – it’s a super sexy look. If you’re worried about the strap making your legs appear shorter, go with a thinner strap – it will be more forgiving than a thicker strap.  However, the shorter your dress or skirt is, the less you have to worry about that. Aveiro is extremely flattering and chic.

Pointy Toe Pumps

These may not seem like an obvious choice since they’re not open toe, but in bright colors, pastels and bold prints, they are perfectly seasonal and on trend.  Not everyone has time to get a weekly pedicure, and sometimes it rains! Color choice is the way to make this look summer appropriate.  Do something in a fabric or print, like Marne, and steer clear of suede or a classic black pump unless you are wearing it to the office.

Metallic Shoes

As far as I’m concerned, metallics are more of a basic must-have than a trend, but that’s all the more reason to have them in your closet this summer. Every woman should have a few shades of metallic shoes – rose gold, yellow, pewter and silver. If you don’t have the right evening shoe, these colors will always work like a nude or black would. For summer, I love a very strappy sandal.  A simple, nothing flat sandal or gladiator is my pick.
