Daisy’s Dish: Live Like A Rich Girl On A Real Girl Budget

27th Apr 2013 / By Guest Contributor

We all want to live like the rich and famous, but few of us can afford to. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t feel like a million bucks! Fabshionistas always find a way! Check out my tips and tricks to living like a rich girl on a real girl budget.

1. PRETTY PERSONALIZATION

Celebrities see their names in lights all of the time, so why not see your name on the place where you look daily… your cell phone! I got the most adorable customized iPhone case from LuxMobile, and I’m obsessed with all of the preppy styles at Iomoi.com. Super affordable and super chic.

2. WEAR DESIGNER DRESSES FOR LESS

My all-time favorite thing to wear is a dress, especially the high-end labels that superstars like Gabrielle Union and Blake Lively sport. But since I’m all about a bargain, I like to score those fabulous celebrity brands without the red carpet price tag. So I shop at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. In fact, I was just there and saw all of Hollywood’s hottest trends, including colored lace, sorbet shades and neon galore.

3. GET A GREAT HAIRCUT

One top secret to looking red carpet sexy in seconds is having amazing, shiny, healthy, fantastic hair. Sometimes the superstar scissors can break the bank, but not anymore thanks to beauty expert and ShakeYourBeauty blogger Tia Williams. She and her sisters launched TheFlyCut.com, which is like Groupon for NYC celebrity hair salons. You can buy deals for more than half off and get uber expensive extensions from Naomi Campbell’s hair stylist or a swanky color and cut from the very same stylist that has done starlets like Kelly Rowland and Kerry Washington. Be sure to check out Gilt City to snag great deals at top salons in cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, Washington, DC and more.

4. GO CHIC GREEN

The new trend of helping the environment seems to be the latest feel-good craze amongst celebs. Although some feel like it’s a little too pricey to save the planet and your coins, I beg to differ. I say start little by little with what you can afford. I love Jessica Alba’s new line, The Honest Co. She has it all from laundry detergent and wet dryer cloths to eco diapers and the creamiest lotion your hands could ever meet. All starting at about $5, these items are affordable enough for us all to help out Mother Nature. Plus, every time you invite friends to join and they make a purchase, you earn a $20 credit. Cha-ching!

5. BEAUTY SLEEP & ELEGANT ENTERTAINMENT

I’m obsessed with looking at celebrity homes in magazines like Elle Decor and InStyle. But thanks to interior designer Ariadne Molina of  Danielle Colding Design, I’ve learned that every girl, Hollywood star or not, big budget or small, can have a swanky home. One of the best places for affordable and fantastic home decor is Home Goods. And if you’re looking for big furniture items with small prices, head to locations in the more suburban areas where families have larger homes. I hear the same sheets that GQ magazine used in Beyonce’s shoot were spotted at a store on the Upper East Side. But make sure to snag your picks as soon as you see them, because the goods are just that… really good.
