Diamonds are a girl’s best friend! As are: rubies, emeralds, pearls, anything shiny, really! Today, March 13th, is recognized as National Jewel Day! This holiday was created as a day to gift or receive inexpensive jewelry. In my book, a perfect excuse to surprise a good friend with a sparkly gift.  Read on to learn fun ways to celebrate Jewel Day.

  • Look up fun facts on jewelry:

-“The green of the emerald is the color of life and of the springtime, which comes round again and again. But it has also, for centuries, been the color of beauty and of constant love”.

-“The most expensive piece of jewelry ever designed specifically for a movie was the necklace worn by Nicole Kidman in the musical Moulin Rouge. The $1 million creation was designed by Stefano Canturi of platinum and 1,308 diamonds with a combined total of 134 carats”.

  • Visit a local jeweler and learn about the different grades of diamonds. Perhaps a jewelry cleaning while you’re there.
  • Wear your birthstone.
  • Gift someone far or near with jewelry.
