How To Wear Spring’s Hottest Trends Now

26th Mar 2013 / By Guest Contributor

Even though spring is officially here, a lot of us are still braving freezing temperatures. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably dying to get into all of the amazing new trends. So I am here to help guide you through that process while still keeping warm! Here are a few of spring’s hottest trends and ways that you can incorporate them into your wardrobe right now.

LUXE LEATHER

Leather is proving to be an amazing transitional trend this season. For years, we have all associated this material with the cooler seasons, but this year we get to incorporate it into our spring looks, as well. Feel free to continue wearing great leather skirts and jackets from now until the end of summer. Try pairing your skirts and dresses with tights and sweaters now, and in the warmer months, lose the tights and add a crop top to your high-waisted skirts for a fresh, off-the-runway look.

PASTELS

These Easter egg hues are a classic for spring, and you can start wearing them now. Go for a layered look with pastel colored pieces now, and simply lose the layers when it gets a bit hotter. Look for great pastel blazers, blouses and lightweight sweaters.

LACE

Lace was a huge hit on the runways for spring 2013. Adding a lace blouse to a great skirt, pair of pants or pair of skinny leather leggings is a fabulous way to add a little sophistication and femininity to some of your more wintry looks. You can also try a lace dress paired with tights and your favorite winter overcoat.

BOLD STRIPES

Bold stripes in black and white and bright colors were one of the biggest trends of the season. For some of us, stripes (especially bold, horizontal ones) can be a bit scary or intimidating. For that reason, I am most excited about all of the vertical striped pants I’ve been seeing everywhere. Try pairing these pants with your favorite winter knit sweater or button down and blazer for a fresh look that’s totally on trend.

STATEMENT SUNGLASSES

Sunglasses are a great way to add a little style to any look. This season is full of amazing statement glasses, and it doesn’t have to be 85 degrees outside to wear them!

FLORAL

Floral patterns have forever been a spring staple, and I encourage you to start wearing them now. Try layering a great floral blazer with your favorite skinny jeans and a button down with a lightweight sweater. I also love floral dresses with tights and ankle booties. When the sun starts to shine, just swap out the tights and boots for a bare leg and sandal or platform.

FLATS AND LOWER HEELS

Now this is probably my favorite trend of all this season! I am on my feet all day long, and unfortunately, I am not capable of doing that in 6-inch platforms… no matter how many times I’ve tried. I’m so grateful that there will finally be a plethora of lower heels and flats for me to choose from. Until temperatures begin to rise, try sticking with a pointy closed toe 3-inch pump. You can wear them with your skinny jeans, leather leggings, pencil skirts and dresses. By sticking with a closed toe option, you can wear tights to stay nice and warm.

I hope this helps you navigate your way around all of the spring trends! Don’t be afraid to start wearing them now!

XOXO,

Nina
