It’s Mardi Gras, baby! Grab your masks; hit the local parade. It’s time to gorge yourself on delicious daiquiris, and decorate yourself with glistening beads (we won’t ask how you got them!). Of course, if this particular tradition isn’t exactly your cup of tea, then celebrate Fat Tuesday by wearing the holiday’s customary colors: purple, green and gold. Suggested by the Russian Grand Duke on his visit to New Orleans in 1872, each hue has a special meaning: Purple represents justice; Green represents faith; and Gold represents power. Here are a few JustFab styles that will help you ‘Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler’ (aka Let the good times roll)!
PURPLE REIGN
Fight for your right to party in purple shoes, handbags and jewelry. This regal hue will give your Mardi Gras look instant street cred. Fond of flats? Snag Jemimah. Bootylicious? Grab Seville. Prefer pumps? Step out in Shayla. Carry the cool tone with you via 818 and Patina, or forget collecting beads and don the Drops of Destiny necklace – it’s one of my personal favorites!
GREEN WITH LOYALTY
Have faith in emerald-colored accessories. This rich jewel tone will give you an added boost of confidence. Luna’s metallic toe cap puts a twinkling twist on a classic silhouette. Stay sleek and chic in Veda, a minimalistic platform ankle bootie. Or elevate your celebratory style with a satin pump, like Salvadora. If you’d rather keep the jade hue closer to the vest, then carry Hot Ticket or Boston Common on your shoulder. And once again, you can forfeit earning beads by wearing Emerald City. This statement necklace is seriously stunning.
STRIKE GOLD
Shine all day (and night) in gleaming gold styles. Slip into something simple with Magdalene, a metallic woven skimmer with a skull embellishment. Or ramp up the flash factor with Miley’s glittering gold design. I’m a huge fan of Clementine; this platform peep toe’s bright lemon hue is offset by a subtle metallic trim. Literary and Tryst will keep your party essentials safe and your look festive. Then adorn your wrist with Off The Cuff. Dangling chains are a golden opportunity to add fun, fringy flair to any Mardi Gras garb.
