I blushed brighter than the color of my red peplum dress when I got the call informing me that I was receiving a Mirror Mirror Award from Colgate and Rolling Out magazine. The Mirror Mirror Awards honor tastemakers city to city, such as Real Housewife of Atlanta NeNe Leakes and blogger Nicole Bitchie. The awards made its stop in the Big Apple to honor what I call the ‘Cool Class of NYC.’
Produced by Andrea Wells of Yellow Brick Agency and hosted by supermodel Tyson Beckford and reality star Toya Wright, it was so exciting to be alongside stars who have climbed the ladder and are still taking steps daily to succeed even more. Honorees included celebrity photographer Johnny Nunez, who shared how he was once homeless, and singer Bridget Kelly, who gushed that this was her very first award.
As they called my name, I humbly accepted with a sweet speech on pursuing your dreams and becoming your best self ever. I was on Cloud Nine from the cheers and support of my closest friends: Kahlana Barfield of InStyle magazine, producer JaSaun Bucker, filmmaker Weyni Elder and more. Cheers to the Cool Class of NYC!
