Don’t you just love long weekends? That one extra day seems like such an extension from a normal weekend and makes it feel like a mini vacation. For those of you that are treating it as a vacation and going away somewhere, here are my tips and tricks for packing your bags!
BEAUTY BASICS
First of all, the good thing about a 3-day weekend is that it is short enough that you should be able to fit all of your stuff into one small bag. The thing for me that never changes are my toiletries. I try to whittle them down, but I always find myself packing my makeup bag, makeup brushes, shower stuff, hair dryer, flat iron and/or curling iron, hair brush, hair spray, deodorant and perfume. This seems to take up the bulk of the room in my bag, but that’s okay because for 3 days you do not need lots of clothing. Plus, I’m a beauty girl at heart!
WEATHER GIRL
Next, I look at my schedule. What am I going to be doing in those 3 days? Am I going to the beach or somewhere warm? If so, then I need a bikini. Am I going somewhere cold? I need to bring lots of socks! I try to think of the activities that I will be doing and form a list of clothing that I need to take. Normally I will take one pair of jeans, a pair of boots, a pair of heels, and one dress. This insures that I have a nice variety of looks to choose from in case we end up going somewhere unexpected. I also always pack a pair of flip flops, because no matter what (and no matter how cold!) I end up needing them! I like to wear them around the hotel if I need to run to the lobby or restaurant.
LET’S ROLL
After that, I pick out a variety of tops that can go with the jeans, boots and heels. This way I can mix and match my outfits and get lots of different looks. Three days is short enough that I normally only need one pair of jeans. I like dark wash skinnies because they don’t take up a lot of room in my bag. From there I roll all of my pieces of clothing; this way they take up my less room than folding! Plus, it reduces wrinkles. I pack the rolls in my bag first, lining the bottom with them, and then fill in the gaps with extra undies, socks and bras. I put my toiletries on top and voila! All packed and ready to take on the weekend!
SUBTLE SHINE
One more thing I wanted to mention: When I go on a 3-day trip, I normally don’t take a bunch of extra jewelry. I just wear some nice pieces that go with everything while I am traveling and leave them on for the whole trip. Simple diamond studs, an oversized watch, and a bracelet stack will be more than enough for the whole weekend.
I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend! Let me know if you have any other tips for packing for a long weekend!
XOXO,
Elle
