DIY Hostess Gift – Glitter Candle Holders

15th Dec 2012 / By Guest Contributor

Ah the holidays, and it just happens to be my favorite time of the year! The shopping, outfit planning and of course all the parties! With that, comes the age old question, what to bring for the lady of the hour – the hostess! I love thinking up creative ways to bring a little something to show my appreciation, like creating these great candle holders to add to the party’s ambiance and festive home, as I’ll show you below.

All you’ll need is just a few simple things found at home or your local craft store:

  • Votive holders
  • Glue
  • Choice of glitter
  • Tea light holders
  • Cotton swabs
  • Spoon
  • Paint Brush
  • Make up brush
  • Cellophane

Step 1: Make sure your votive holders are clean and dust free, to make sure the glue will stick.

Step 2: Use a paint brush to make your design of choice. In this case I’m going to use cotton swabs for a polk-a-dot effect and a brush to smear the glue at the top to mimic icicles dripping.

Step 3: Sprinkle glitter thoroughly covering all the glue, shake gently, let it dry overnight. Once completely dry, dust off any excess glitter, I used an old makeup brush!

Step 4: Your candle holders are ready for gift giving, just add a tea light candle, wrap with cellophane for a great visual effect and voila, adorable ambient hostess gift!
