No holiday outfit is complete without a rockin’ manicure. This celebratory season brings new colors and rich top coats that will transform your look into merrymaking perfection! Check out a few of my favorite festive polishes. With these shindig-shining shades, your nails are sure to be the statement-makers of every glamorous get-together on your calendar.
Looking for something sassy? The holiday trio from YSL is a duo of radiant reds and a fabulous fuchsia. When I use a strong scarlet on my clients’ fingers, I like to use a warm neutral on her toes. I love the combination of red and nude. Oxblood is also really huge this season. Try Dior Venis Nail Polish in Red Ebony or Oxblood from RGB Cosmetics.
Prefer something a little more sparkly? Butter London’s holiday collection is a glittery assortment of some surprising shades. My favorite is Jack The Lad – an opaque moss green shimmer with gold, turquoise and green microglitter.
OPI’s new Skyfall collection (inspired by the latest Bond film) has some glam holiday hues; but my favorite has to be The Man With The Golden Gun, which boasts an 18-karat gold leaf top coat. Try layering it on top of Goldeneye for glitzy gold digits.
Zoya also launched its Ornate Collection filled with various shiny selections from dark and mysterious to jewel-tone favorites. Storm is a smoky, seductive, almost-black shade with flacks of dark glitter that pairs well with red and gold accessories. Ziv is a foil-finish gold shade that makes a great base for a glitter top coat.
Jewel tones coordinate perfectly with winter white outfits. My faves include Aurora, a shimmery amethyst hue, and Logan, a vibrant emerald polish, both from Zoya. I’m also a fan of Blue Rhapsody, a mirror finish blue metallic by Essie.
Of course, you can never go wrong with a classic metallic polish. For a bolder, darker metallic, try Graphite by Chanel. For a shiny coppery look, use Penny Talk by Essie. Try layering Essie’s No Place Like Chrome with Electra by Zoya for a vibrant layered silver sparkle.
If you’re more adventurous, try some easy holiday nail art! Candy cane nails can be created by first painting your nails red. Use a striping polish to draw white and silver stripes. You can also create an easy glitter ombre effect by painting your nails soft white from the cuticles to the tips. Add a layer of glittery top coat halfway down the nail. Then add another layer of glitter focusing only on the tips. This will give you a graduated effect.
However you choose to design your digits, make sure they’re just as festive as your fashion!
Happy holidays!
