With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I have been contemplating ways to enhance my tablescape for our annual family Thanksgiving dinner. Then it hit me! I can re-purpose the pumpkins I purchased for Halloween and turn them into FAB Fall centerpieces! Here are three designs that I put together that are extremely easy to do and will add a little sparkle and shine to your dinner table or spaces in your house.
Supplies needed for this project:
Scissors
Stapler w/ staples
Glue
Gold acrylic paint (can be found at your local craft store)
Paint Brush
Fine Glitter (can be found at your local craft store – any color of your choosing)
Spools of festive ribbon in fall colors and seasonal patterns
Pumpkins (any color or size will work)
Pumpkin #1 – My first pumpkin was the medium sized iridescent designed one:
Step 1 – Paint a thin layer of glue on the outside of the entire pumpkin
Step 2- Apply the fine glitter to the outside of the pumpkin until it is completely coated.
Step 3 – Let the glitter sit for a couple hours until dry and then apply a decorative bow to the stem!
Pumpkin #2 – The second was the largest sized pumpkin with the ribbon detailing. This is the easiest design and you can drape the ribbon horizontally or vertically depending on your preference…I chose to drape mine vertically:
Step 1 – Measure out a piece of ribbon from the top of your pumpkin at the stem to the base of the pumpkin and staple both ends to the secure the strip.
Step 2- Continue the first step along the sides of the pumpkin until it’s covered in symmetrical lines of ribbon.
Step 3 – Take 2 larger pieces of ribbon (same color or different -based on your preference) and tie a bow with each piece separately at the stem of the pumpkin to form a large bow and this design is complete!
Pumpkin #3 – The last pumpkin was a miniature pumpkin painted gold and finished with a yellow iridescent glitter. You can make multiples and use them as decor for your table place settings or place them around a centerpiece for an extra pop of sparkle and shine.
Step 1 – Take your miniature pumpkins and paint 2 coats of gold acrylic paint over them. You can also use a gold spray paint if you prefer. Let them sit for a couple hours to dry before moving on to the next step.
Step 2- After they are dry, apply a thin coat of glue to the outside of each pumpkin using a clean paint brush.
Step 3- Apply the fine yellow iridescent glitter to the outside of the pumpkins until they are completely coated.
Step 4- Let the glitter sit for a couple hours until dry and then apply a decorative bow to the pumpkin stems!
These pumpkins are fun to decorate and can serve as a fun activity with your kids or with your girlfriends during this holiday season. Happy decorating!
