Daisy’s Dish: Reality TV… Yay Or Nay?

13th Sep 2012 / By Guest Contributor

WEEN, the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network, recently held a summit in NYC called ‘Project Realism’  designed to offer an in-depth look at reality television and its nationwide impact on young women. Two of WEEN’s founders, Sabrina Thompson and Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, invited Daisy’s Dish to join the fun, and we couldn’t pass up the amazing event.

Definitely two women that have it all, Sabrina and Valeisha both have an impressive roster of achievements. Sabrina wears many hats, including Beanpye jewelry designer, educator, photographer and runner-up on Survivor One World. Valeisha, former Executive Vice President for Russell Simmons’ Rush Communications, is the newly appointed National Youth Vote Director for Obama for America; wife to Dallas Maverick Dahntay Jones; and new haute momma to a precious little baller baby.

Reality television stars, including Love & Hip Hop New York’s Yandy Smith, Somaya Reece and Emily B, as well as Andrea Kelly from Hollywood Exes and more, all sat on a panel to offer their wisdom and insight on the controversial topic of women in reality TV. But before the heavy stuff began, we played it easy and had a chance to have a little pink carpet chat with reality TV stars Meeka Claxton (Basketball Wives), Adrienne Bailon of Style Network’s Empire Girls, and more on Secret Santa, fall must-haves and June Ambrose’s wild secret to being Just Fabulous.
