We all love those special days when business and pleasure mingle and life feels extra sparkly and fun. This past Friday was one of them. My gracious girlfriend, Brooke Davenport, and I hosted an intimate pool party at her lovely home to launch my summer collection of JustFab shoes and handbags.
It was a fabulously girly afternoon in Brooke’s backyard sanctuary nestled in the prestigious Hancock Park section of Los Angeles. Pink parasols, pink beach balls, fluffy pink pillows and beach towels, and food catered by PINK TACO. Guests included friends from various industries. One of our favorite celebrity bloggers, Jared “Just Jared” Eng stopped by to check things out. The beautiful actress and model Kim Porter arrived looking perfect and graceful as always. The designers extraordinaire Clayton and Flavie Webster mingled. Editor, stylist, personality and fellow JustFab Style Expert George Kotsiopoulos arrived looking as cool as ever. Plus, of course, everyone’s VIP doggies noshed, sipped and caught some rays on the perfect summer afternoon.
The ladies did a magnificent job of navigating the pool in high heels. Actress Jordana Brewster joked, “I will not fall in!” Indeed, there was only one small splash that I was aware of and it was not the stunning brunette in her perfect mint green DVF mini! Pretty impressive considering that in addition to the open bar, there were some extremely handsome gentlemen (models? waiters?) walking around serving up yummy strawberry and coconut flavored concoctions, compliments of SVEDKA Vodka. And since open bars are always such a fan favorite, I decided to have an open “Shoe Bar” where guests picked out specially selected items of their choice from my line. I’m pretty confident Ariel Winter’s mom didn’t mind her hanging out in front of that bar. It is hard to say which was more crowded, the shoe bar or the drink bar, but I’m going to have to say the shoe bar was the hit considering most of the gals wore their free goodies right away. I’m told Leisure, my colorful cork clutch, was one of the most popular choices followed closely by my cork high heel sandal Shantay, but the “bartenders” at the shoe bar said everyone seemed to try on at least two or three pairs. Bags, shoes, JustFab sunglasses… decisions, decisions, decisions!
I really wanted to make the afternoon about my guests, so we focused on a theme of pampering and fun. The ladies lounged while getting manicures and their hair done in proper goddess style. A goddess braiding station is a must at a summer pool party, right?! Jenna Dewan-Tatum sat at the braid bar and gave new meaning to the words ‘goddess braids.’ Could the girl be any more beautiful? Could her husband (Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum) be any more beautiful?
