Party Like A Rockstar: Hollywood Celebrates Debut Of Abbey Dawn By Avril Lavigne On

14th Mar 2012 / By Guest Contributor

It’s finally here! Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne made its debut exclusively on yesterday. So we celebrated the momentous occasion the best way we know how: with a huge party! The singer/designer put on a private performance for nearly 200 guests at the iconic Viper Room on Sunset. The event was quintessential Hollywood: celeb-studded red carpet (actually, it was pink), aggressive paparazzi, free drinks, gift bags and plenty of fabulous Abbey Dawn shoes and bags on display. Wishing you could have been there? Then accept my invitation to experience VIP access to this once-in-a-lifetime event!

Red carpet arrivals began at 8 p.m. and did not disappoint. Actress Mena Suvari led the pack and looked stunning in Metal Head, a strappy high heel sandal from the Abbey Dawn collection. Look for her and the rest of the American Pie gang in American Reunion April 6! Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen followed – talk about a teen with a ‘tude! Her long blonde locks really popped against her all-black all-leather get-up. Then Glee’s Cory Monteith and Chord Overstreet walked by almost undetected in their baseball caps and casual long-sleeved tees. George Kotsiopoulos, stylist and E! Fashion Police panelist, arrived looking quite dapper in his dark duds. Avril strutted down the scarlet strip wearing Abbey Dawn from head to toe! On her feet: Pretty Please, an edgy studded platform heel with crisscross straps. Finally, our fabulous President & Creative Director Kimora Lee Simmons arrived in the spiked platform peep toe WTH, named after Avril’s first single off her new album Goodbye Lullaby.

Inside, house music was bumpin’ and so was the jam-packed room of peeps until Kimora hit the stage to introduce the star of the night. Avril, who had her very own sparkling red microphone, opened the show with her hit, Happy Ending. She followed with I’m With You, and then encouraged the crowd to rock out with her on Girlfriend: “The words are ‘hey, hey, you, you,’ so sing along.” She closed the set with fan favorite Sk8ter Boi, but stuck around to chat with Kimora and snap a few pics with the winners of our Best Damn Outfit Contest.

It was a great show and a great night. Avril sounded strong and soulful and looked completely at ease on stage. Not a simple task considering the closest crowd member was only mere inches away!

Throughout the evening, guests dined on miniature tufts of pink cotton candy, small sliders, grilled cheese, popcorn and pigs in a blanket while admiring the Abbey Dawn styles proudly displayed above the bar. They could even make a music video of their own, complete with feather boas, inflatable guitars and sunglasses, in the form of a pocket-sized flip book.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the debut of Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne on – a rockin’ party for a rockstar’s accessories. Oh, and the highlight of the night for me? I snagged a set list!
