Covered In Jewels: Behind The Scenes With Angela Fink

29th Feb 2012 / By Guest Contributor

It’s almost the first of the month! And while you’ve been patiently waiting for February to end, I’ve been busy preparing for March. One of my duties as JustFab’s in-house stylist is building outfits around all of the jewelry pieces – which I love. Styling jewelry is so much fun! It’s all about making that piece the focal point of your look. Go behind the scenes with me to find out which trends are hot for spring and how you can style your favorite jewels with your favorite outfits.

I’m especially excited about the spring selections, because all of the pieces are amazing. I even got to go to NYC and design some of them myself!

Trend-wise, color (both bright and muted) is super hot this season – especially pastels and neon jewels. Geometric shapes will also be important, as well as statement necklaces.

Since bold hues are so big right now, it’s fun to mix and match fun shades with colorful jewels. And I’m still loving colorblocking. I like the contrast of creating colorblock looks with pastels and neons together.

Color plays a major role in my outfit selections, too. When assembling the perfect ensemble for a particular piece of jewelry, I like to choose separates with great color, but not too much detail. Then I place the JustFab necklace on top, so it’s eye catching. For example, I put a pop of color necklace called Romance In The Stones with a bright yellow flirty skirt for a more playful look.

I  also love to show how you can wear amazing jewels with casual outfits; it doesn’t always have to be super fancy. Check out the look I put together that’s my take on fashionable work wear. I paired a black and white pencil skirt and cropped jacket with a bold circle necklace called Drop Of A Dime. The necklace is obviously the conversation-starter of this outfit, but it still looks totally professional against the conservative separates.

I hope you love the March jewelry pieces as much as I do. And be sure to check out the outfits I put together for each style. Maybe they’ll give you a little inspiration for how to wear them!
