Everyone thinks it is so easy to dress people for award shows, but what people don’t understand is that everyone needs to get dressed and there are only so many dresses. Here’s a red carpet round up of the beautiful women I dressed this awards season!
Based in Los Angeles, Jessica brings more than 15 years of styling experience to JustFab.com. She dresses some of Hollywood's elite trendsetters for a variety of occasions, including red carpet events and awards shows. Emily Blunt, Dakota Fanning and Marcia Cross are just a few of A-listers on her impressive list of clientele. Jessica also styles editorial photo shoots and advertisements.
As you all know, the Met Ball took place on Monday, May 6, in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and this event was the fashion extravaganza of the season. This year, the invite included an unusual, but fun, choice of theme: “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” They asked all-star attendees to go punk, and while many guests stuck with the typical pretty dresses and totally missed the memo on the dress code, some of the stars embraced the dramatic theme by adding safety pins and stud embellishments. This year for the gala, I styled Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski from The Office, and one of my favorite super models, Miranda Kerr.
With the 85th Annual Academy Awards just 48 hours away, my girls are logging in their sessions with trainers, downing bottles of organic juices for their cleanses and prepping the skin so they are camera-ready. While the ladies are prepping so am I – and to be honest, I’ve been prepping for the Oscars Party Circuit for months now. None of my girls were nominated or are presenting this year, but I will be dressing Miranda Kerr, Haley Bennett, Carla Gugino and Andrea Riseborough (just to name a few) for the Vanity Fair soiree and a slew of other parties.
It’s that time again: Awards Season! My favorite (not so much my assistants or interns) time of the year started off with the 70th Annual Golden Globes as the first big event of the red carpet season. Let’s kick-start 2013 with some glitz and glamour!
We all love those special days when business and pleasure mingle and life feels extra sparkly and fun. This past Friday was one of them. My gracious girlfriend, Brooke Davenport, and I hosted an intimate pool party at her lovely home to launch my summer collection of JustFab shoes and handbags.
For some reason this year, it seems like summer took FOREVER to arrive. Just because here in Los Angeles we (not my clients, mind you) wear faux fur in June, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to rock our hottest summer trends ASAP after a harsh blistery winter. I think part of my excitement for the season was because I knew I’d be designing and collaborating with my friends at JustFab again. And I couldn’t wait to release another fab collection– just for YOU!
I dressed a few people for the Costume Institute’s annual gala at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, but my favorite look was Leslie Bibb’s. She wore a gorgeous black and navy gown by Zac Posen. She looked like a princess in this dress! I loved the subtle contrast of dark colors, and the fitted bodice really made her waist look tiny above that voluminous skirt! But it was the sculpted strapless neckline that truly took my breath away when I first saw it on her. So fabulous! I added some sparkle with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and helped her pick out the perfect JustFab clutch to carry. She ended up choosing a great woven piece with a sleek clasp that’s not even available yet, but it wasn’t easy! She loved them all, it was hard to decide! Then the real highlight of the night came when designer Tom Ford told her she was the prettiest girl there! Now that’s a compliment!
Old Hollywood glamour, exciting new trends! This past Awards Season was one of my absolute favorites! The 2012 red carpets at the SAGs, Golden Globes, and Oscars were the perfect coupling of early Hollywood glamour and fresh new trends. While styling my clients, I felt a vibe reminiscent of early Hollywood. I really thought the mix of old with new, along with the wide array of styles and colors made this awards season extra engaging and extremely interesting. There were 5 trends I thought particularly sizzled on the 2012 Scarlet Strip, but you’ll have to read on to find out what they were!
