Question: How can black women wear nude-hued shoes?
Submitted by Ky on March 28th, 2012 | Leave a CommentSince nude shoes are supposed to elongate legs because they are close in color to your skin, what do you recommend for me as a black woman?
This one’s an oldie, but a goodie, fabs! Conventional wisdom tells us that shoes in a beige hue elongate legs by creating a visual extension of the leg length directly down to the foot.
But they never mention that ‘nude’ isn’t ‘nude’ on everyone. Fear not! Women with darker skin tones can still stand tall by finding footwear in their shade, like bronze or chocolate. Personally, I like to add in a little texture and dimension to the shoe to it’s not a flat color.
Also remember that in fashion, there are always many paths to the waterfall. Shift focus to other elements of your wardrobe. A high-waisted or shorter skirt adds length. Cropped jackets and tops with longer sleeves balance your figure and add height. Once you find the right combo for your body and unique style, you’ll realize that elongating your legs isn’t such a TALL order at all.
