Sequin Tops: Wear it Now and Later

The holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get some extra mileage out of your recent sequin finds! Here are a few of my quick and easy suggestions to reinvent the holiday wardrobe staple—the sequin top.

For winter—and to ward off that blustery Arctic chill—try pairing your sparkly top with a simple leather pencil skirt and tights to create a warm, yet sophisticated and modern look. Prefer something with more ease? Then opt for a pair of effortless track pants—they’re unexpected, yet totally chic. Just remember to keep your accessories simple with a sleek clutch, metallic pumps (or yes, even flats), and minimal jewelry.  Personally, I love tiny studs with the accessory of the moment—the hand cuff!  Sparkle always brings a smile to the face, and you’ll be surprised how often these will become your go-to looks to stave off the winter blues!

With spring fast approaching, you may also be wondering how to work sequins into the new season’s trends? Simple! The trick: Mix in print and add some color. I say go bold with floral print shorts and bright heels. It’s a great way to juxtapose texture and pattern. If that seems a bit too daring, then go for distressed white denim. It has a lived-in, beat up, “I’m not so precious” feeling that’s unexpected with sequins. Add in a backpack—the “it” bag of the season—a pair of sunnies, and some basic earrings and you’ll be the stylish envy of everyone’s eye!

So this season—and next!—don’t banish your sequins to the back of your closet, break that “sequins are just for the holidays” style rule and try some of these suggestions for a FAB start to the new year!
