Happy First Day of Summer! If you thought spring’s nail polish trends were sizzling, then you’ll simply melt over summer’s! Runways showed high-gloss nudes, classic reds, printed metallics and bold nail art as key for kicking off the warm-weather months. But as the temps kept rising, so did the bar for eye-popping digits. Color will continue to be important, mimicking one of ready-to-wear’s biggest trends: colorblocking. And fun patterns will get a thumbs up, too. So wave hello to the four most fabulous nail trends of the season!
I love the colorblocking trend that we are seeing everywhere from clothes and shoes to even nails! I love mixing two, or even three, bright bold colors. You can even pick colors in the same family and create an easy DIY ombre effect.
2. POP OF COLOR ON 1 NAIL
I am also loving putting a pop of unexpected color on one of your nails. Some of my favorite combinations are black and silver; nude and red; blue and green; and cream and light pink. Just keep in mind these tips:
- If the colors are bold, then make sure the polishes are the same texture. For example: if you are doing a matte look, make sure both colors are matte. If you’re using neons, then make sure both colors are neon. If you’re using metallics, make sure both colors are metallic, etc.
- If you are mixing neutrals, feel free to experiment! Try using solid white nail polish on four of your fingers and highlighting the ring finger with a blast of sparkly gold glitter polish.
3. MAGNETIC NAIL POLISH
Magnetic nail polish is everywhere and it is so easy to do. You just paint on two coats of polish, hold the magnetic cap over the wet nail for a few seconds, and when it dries, you have a really cool textured design!
4. LACE NAILS
I am also seeing lace nails everywhere. I love the boudoir feel of these sexy nails! You can create this look by placing a piece of lace gently onto wet polish. For an easier way to get the look, you can use Minx or Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Laced Up.
