Something New: Go Behind The Scenes Of Our Formal Photo Shoot

I paired Posy with this one-shoulder floral-print frock.

April is half over, which means it’s time to introduce a new collection! This month we wanted to give you FABshionistas plenty of inspiration and style options for all of your big events this spring. Whether you’re tying the knot, standing up for your BFF or just showing your support as a guest, we’ve got a cute and event-appropriate look for you. Girly details, like bows, frills and jewels, will turn your next mid-summer night’s dream into a real-life fairy tale. Join me behind the scenes to see how it all came together at our formal collection photo shoot. Hopefully you’ll find Something New to call your own.

Inspired by this year’s Academy Award-winner for Best Picture, our Something New photo shoot incorporated elements of The Artist. I loved the idea of having just a suit and a coat rack instead of a male model or bunch of girls. This set-up says ‘it’s all about the bride, bridesmaid or the girl that we featured.’ Just like Rihanna said she wants to be ‘the only girl in the world,’ I think with this editorial we got to show that the girl was the most important part! It was super cute and creative.

Finding the dresses for this shoot was so much fun! I went to some cute boutiques, some big-name stores and even a wedding dress shop to find the right outfits. What’s so great is that this season is all about pastels and beautiful colors and color combos – whether it’s a floral print or a cool design. So it was easy to incorporate some of these big spring trends into my looks. You’ll see that I picked dresses with rich colors and pastels. I also found a great dress that had a high-low skirt and a fun chiffon frock with a fab floral print. I’m also really loving the one-shoulder dress. I think it’s so appropriate for a wedding. It shows just the right amount of skin!

Once you’ve found the dress, it’s time to shop for shoes! Buying shoes for a wedding, or any fancy affair, can be overwhelming. So don’t over-think it! Be matchy-matchy if you want, or mix up the colors. Spring is all about mixing and matching. In this new collection, we have some unique shades, like rust and mint. Don’t be afraid of them; they are light enough to be a neutral.

When I’m styling a look for a wedding, I want it to be fun, but soft at the same time. That’s why I paired Posy, the minty green T-strap, with a chiffon floral one-shoulder dress. Those shoes are definitely a ‘wow’ piece! But when in doubt, go with a nude high heel, like Rose.

And even though I loved all of the looks I put together, I did have two faves. The first was the short Vera Wang wedding dress. It was so fun and flirty! I can imagine a beautiful bride marrying her best friend at an outdoor country-style wedding. But my most fave out of all of them was the long Vera Wang wedding gown. I actually loved it so much that I bought it… and I’m not even engaged! But who can blame me? I had to! It was such a beautiful cut and the details were so gorgeous that I couldn’t help myself! Sometimes I even try it on. Why not? It’s hanging in my closet, just waiting to be worn. Don’t judge!Β  You know you tried on wedding gowns before you were engaged, too!

So be sure to check out our new collection of fun styles for your next formal (or in-formal) function. Then tell us, which style will you walk down the aisle in?
