Baggage Claim: What’s In Avril Lavigne’s Handbag?

I don’t know about you, but around here we’re counting down the days until Avril Lavigne’s new line of Abbey Dawn shoes and handbags launches exclusively on JustFab.com. Only 14 to go! In the meantime, we were excited to learn that the singer-songwriter-apparel designer was ranked No. 84 on VH1′s list of the 100 Greatest Women In Music from 1990 until now. It’s no wonder she’s among this esteemed group that includes Madonna, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Cher. Avril has managed to parlay her punk-rock sound into a lasting music career and her matching sense of style into a lucrative fashion brand. So what makes the ‘What The Hell’ crooner so complicated? I love leopard! These fierce spots just keep popping up on the runway. Not that I’m surprised; leopard print heels and pumps are a fabulous way to liven up your wardrobe, and designers are finding new ways to make the trend fresh. Case-in-point: I was recently snapped by the paparazzi wearing a strappy leopard-print wedge sandal named Trishelle available at JustFab.com. What I’m really loving about this shoe is the dramatic height; the platform makes it stable, but the wedge heel is irresistible! As we move into spring, the crisp cutouts and open toe make it a great transitional accessory. I chose to pair it with black skinny jeans and a black moto jacket that’s super hot right now. It’s Oscar weekend, and Hollywood is buzzing with preparations. From facials and dress fittings to crash diets and hair consultations, the stars are getting ready for film’s biggest night. Each icon who hits the red carpet wants to look his/her best – all the way down to the jewelry. Luckily, there are stylists for that! Today I stopped by StyleLab’s 2012 Academy Awards Jewelry Preview, where celebs and their stylists come to pick out the perfect baubles for their Oscar attire. I love this event for two reasons: not only do I get to see, touch and try on (yes, try on!) some of the most spectacular pieces of jewelry I’ll never own, I also get to catch up with my favorite Jewelry Expert, Mr. Michael O’Connor.
